Language and Illumination

I was reading my Bible this morning, and I had one of those "deep thought" moments. It was one of those times where I was suddenly struck in a new way by something very ordinary: reading. It is truly amazing how patterns of lines and curves on a page communicates concepts to a reader who understands them. It made me thank God for the gift of language.

Then I had another insight: I could understand what the words in the Bible are saying on a superficial level, but I am unable to truly understand and comprehend their message by myself. God's thoughts are certainly not our thoughts! Praise be to God for choosing to grant me the illumination of the Holy Spirit. His help is something to truly be thankful for!

You Know . . . + More New Stuff

You know you've spent most of a week being creative for hours every day when:

Your brother asks someone what the factors of 48 are and you figure out the first ten or so before you realize that you don't like math that much. I figured I had used my brain's creative side so much that it had shut down :-P It's been a fun week though, and I've composed a lot of music! All the same, I'm taking a composing break over the weekend.

Something else new: faster internet! We upgraded to a 3 MBps connection so everything is zippy fast now. :-)

What's New - Projects

What else is new? Hmmm . . .

Well I have a new music project: composing the score for a movie my friends made! (http://godswarriorintraining.blogspot.com/2010/07/lights-camera-action.html) I have till March 5 to finish it, and I'm writing about 12-18 minutes of music, so it's a bit of a crunch. I'm doing well so far though - I've written close to three minutes of music over the past four days. God is giving me lots of good ideas and the skill and creativity to flesh them out! I think it'll turn out very well!

I also got started on a job opportunity - doing slideshows and videos for events. I did a slideshow for a wedding rehearsal dinner last week and everyone loved it :-) Now it's only a matter of people showing interest in having something like that done for them. We'll see where it goes!

More new stuff (hopefully) coming up!

What's New

Well, I haven't really had anything to blog about lately, but I have gotten several new things recently, so I thought I'd post about some of them. First up, I traded my old amp for a like new, Dunlop CryBaby wah pedal!

It's a limited edition, pepto pink model! :-) Maybe I'll post a video of me playing it and my new map sometime in here.

Also, we have three to four more inches of snow. This has been a crazy year for snow! My brothers also just blasted an invading deer with their full auto airsoft guns.

Eustace on Growing and Sanctification

"The very first tear [Aslan] made was so deep and I thought it had gone right into my heart. And when he began pulling the skin off, it hurt worse than anything I've ever felt. The only thing that made me able to bear it was just the pleasure of feeling the stuff peel off. You know – if you've ever picked the scab of a sore place. It hurts like billy-oh but it is such fun to see it coming away."

~ Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis ~

An excellent description of what we feel both growing up and growing in Christ!
